UAP ALABANG CHAPTER

On October 26, 2024, the UAP Alabang Chapter celebrated its 39th Anniversary and inducted new members at Acacia  Hotel Manila, located at 5400 East Asia Drive Corner Commerce Avenue, Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang, Muntinlupa.

 

A highlight of the event was the keynote speech by Ar. Felino "Jun" Palafox, FUAP, PIEP, APEC Ar., titled "A Filipino  Architect's Global Journey: From the Philippines to Dubai and to the World | The Philippines 2050: A First-World Country and A First-World Economy." Ar. Palafox shared his experiences as a Senior Planner (Architect-Urban Planner) for Dubai Municipality and reflected on his past and current projects. He discussed the challenges facing the Philippines, such as corruption, criminality, climate change, inequality, infrastructure, and investment, stressing the importance of sustainable development that meets present needs without compromising future generations.

 

Another impactful talk was given by the second resource speaker, Ar. Royal Pineda, titled "The Culture of Betterment: Sharing the Filipino Identity." Ar. Pineda outlined his vision for Filipino modern architecture, emphasizing designs grounded in Filipino sensibility, simplicity, harmony with nature, innovation, technology, accessibility, timelessness, cultural reflection, and sustainability. He also showcased some of his renowned projects, such as The Reef in Cebu, the Athletics Stadium, and the Aquatics Center at New Clark City.​

The ceremony concluded with the recognition and oath-taking of 61 new inductees into UAP Alabang.
